ABOUT THE ARTIST
Janine Hamrin (b. 1993) is a visual artist working primarily with photography as her medium. She is currently in her second year of studying for a Bachelor's degree in Photography at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg. Dreams, fragments, and symbols serve as the entry points to her work, where she explores themes such as identity, vulnerability, and relationships.
Hamrin views her memories as a jumble, a chaos that she seeks to clarify. There are specific memory images that she needs to dissect and shape, trying to understand these dead/alive things in some way.
In Hamrin's artistic process, there is often a tangible manipulation of the image material. Methods she employs today often involve montage and archival work, a blend of analog and digital processing.
