Maria Safronova Wahlström (b. 1989) is an artist based in Gothenburg. She earned her MFA in Free Art at Valand Academy and works with sculpture, installation, and graphics, focusing on our collective behavior and the language practices we use to signal our social belonging. In her work, she reflects on our collective identity, social myths, ideological branding, and moralism. In all her projects, she emphasizes the interplay between conceptual and visual form, as well as contemporary and historical references. She employs materials such as stone, plastic, metal, wood, and "found objects," each with their respective qualities, history, and provenance, brought into dialogue through techniques like engraving, sculpting, casting, UV, and screen printing.

She has exhibited at various venues, including the (X)sites Biennial (2023), Ars Electronica Festival in Austria (Kunstuniversität Linz, 2022), Galleri Candyland in Stockholm (2022), Göteborg Konsthall (2019), Contemporary Art Center Vilnius (Baltic Biennial 14 EDU, 2021), Gallery Jean-Pierre Gros (2016) in Paris, and the Tbilisi History Museum (2014).
