In Malin Mattebo's artistic process, the dialogue with the material is a driving force. Malin strives for an intuitive working process with the material as a co-creator, where contrasting properties in material choices create tension in the works. Often based on used home textiles, which is processed through dyeing, plant dyeing, digital printing, embroidery, and coating with beeswax. The process results in "textile abstract paintings," where colors, textures, transparency, and overlaps form her artistic language. A non-hierarchical approach to textile materials and techniques aims for multiple perspectives on the everyday, embroidery and femininity. Malin holds a master's degree in textile art from HDK-Valand.
