Lovisa Axén, b. 1996 in Götlunda, is currently a Malmö-based artist whose artworks are the result of tireless exploration and a fascination with contrasts and psychological dynamics. Her practice resonates with traditional craftsmanship while delving into human desires, expectations, and fears, where she finds a space to intertwine these threads into textile art. She is particularly interested in the Interaction between these elements: sorrow meets joy, longing contrasts with loss, and the analog stands in contrast to the digital.
Lovisa holds a BFA in Textile art from Konstfack (2021) and has also studied at Nyckelviksskolan (2018), Beckmans Design School (2018), and Hällefors Folkhögskola (2017). Her recent residencies include AIR 15 at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, New York, and Ós Textile Residency at the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós, Iceland. Her artworks are represented at the Rian Design Museum, Uppsala Municipality, and Konsthantverkscentrum, as well as in private collections.
